What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low-Voltage Technician position at SYNERGY SOFTWARE AND CONSULTING LLC?
The Low-Voltage Technician is a temporary position at Madison, WI who will be responsible for aiding the contracting team members in project execution and ensuring end users receive high quality work.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Pulling and routing CAT5 or CAT 6 cable in a DATA CENTER or new construction commercial environment
- Build out telecommunications closets
- Install cable support systems which consist of cable tray, j-hooks and ladder tray
- Install cat 5/6 horizontal station cable, backbone cable, and fiber optic cable and riser systems
- Install and termination of RG6/RG11 Coaxial Cabling
- Install specialty systems (security & CCTV) and fire alarm cable
- Terminate cat 5/6 horizontal 4-pair work-area outlet (modular connector)
- Must be able to terminate RJ45Plugs
- Perform copper cable testing (UTP, coax)
- Perform both copper and fiber troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Low Voltage Structured Cabling, Access Control, and Coaxial Cabling preferred
- Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools
- Must have the ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Data Center experience a plus
- Perform fiber splicing (fusion) experience a plus
- Knowledge of codes and standards (OSHA and BICSI) a plus
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional dress & demeanor
- Able to follow all safety rules and instructions
- Must have a valid driver's license

- Highly self-motivated

Competencies:
- Copper and/or Fiber installation experience is a plus
- Other Manufacturers Certifications
