This position provides direct clinical counseling services in school-based setting. The direct clinical counseling services include assessment (initial assessment, testing or other assessment) and treatment (individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, art therapy, play therapy, support groups and psychoeducational groups) with designated populations. Will provide treatment planning, case management and follow up of cases. Case management includes support calls, networking with agencies and coordinating services. Responds to initial phone calls and documents information as needed. Maintains agency files according to Synergy’s documentation standards.
This position requires Master’s degree in counseling or social work. Must be licensed in Missouri at the Master’s level (Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker).
Synergy’s School Based Integrated Services Program (SBIS) provides services to local school districts and charter schools. The objective of this program is to assist school staff in the implementation of a trauma sensitive and resiliency based school culture. Working with schools to recognize and address student vulnerabilities as they relate to trauma through classroom education, behavior support, case management, clinical services, and faculty coaching. School based staff will model trauma informed care approaches to working with students, families, school systems, and communities in accordance with Synergy Services policies, procedures and philosophies. Staff for this program should be familiar with trauma informed practices and dynamics of school settings; have strong communication skills, work ethic, and organization skills; be self-motivated, flexible, reliable, and be able to work as a part of a team while also working independently.
Direct care staff within the SBIS program work a 48 week schedule to match a traditional school calendar, having 4 weeks off in summer, in addition to the Wednesday before thanksgiving, winter break and spring break. Providing services during fall/spring semesters and summer school. Benefits are still available to full time SBIS employees and further details regarding pay schedule and time off will be discussed during the interview process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Clinical Services
Provides direct clinical counseling services to students in the school setting including assessment, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy and support/psychoeducation groups (may include in-home work);
Provides professional development regarding trauma to school staff;
Assists with trauma-informed care implementation in the school setting;
Provides crisis management as needed;
Case Coordination
Provides treatment planning, case management and follow-up of cases;
Provides support calls and networks with other agencies;
Writes reports as requested;
Makes outside referrals for additional services as appropriate;
Maintains client files according to agency documentation standards;
Supervision and Training
Participates in monthly peer supervision;
Participates in weekly supervision with the Clinical Manager to discuss cases and create a plan for ways to mitigate vicarious trauma;
Participates in professional development and training in order to maintain requirements for licensure;
Supervisory Responsibilities
Potentially provides supervision to practicum or intern students;
Expected to assist other employees by sharing experience, expertise and training;

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
This position requires Master’s degree in counseling or social work. Must be licensed or working toward licensure in Missouri at the Master’s level (Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker).
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
The employee must be provisionally licensed as a therapist at the Master’s level (Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker). Must have a valid driver’s license.
