Job Description – Quality Inspector
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Works Closely with: Production, Purchasing, Engineering
Full-Time Position
Salary Range: $20-$27/hr
Job Description: Synergy Manufacturing is looking to hire a full-time Quality Inspector. This crucial role will work under the direction of the Purchasing Manager to ensure that incoming product and components adhere to the quality standards required. The Quality Inspector is responsible for measuring, inspecting, and testing numerous components using various basic inspection tools and some specialized equipment. The Quality Inspector will document the inspection findings, communicate with other departments (Purchasing, Receiving, and Engineering), and will assist with moving inventory within the Warehouse.
Responsibilities:
· Review and understand quality documentation such as engineering drawings, engineering change orders, and inspection procedures
· Inspect incoming product and components for dimensional and visual adherence to engineering drawings and quality standards by using basic inspection tools, gauges, guides, and equipment
· Document and record all inspection results and communicate inspection findings with Purchasing and Production
· Move and organize materials and components in the Warehouse to reflect their inspection status
· Utilize ERP system to transact material, document rejections, and review incoming shipments
· Collaborate with Production, Sales, and Purchasing to maintain an inspection priority schedule
· Create and oversee Non-Conformance Reports by using ERP system’s Materials Review Board process
· Work with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing to appropriately disposition non-conforming materials based upon the outcome of functional testing and inspection results
· Take responsibility in maintaining and improving inspection workspace and departmental procedures
Required Skills and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED
· Able to interpret technical drawings and specifications
· Proficient using a variety of metrology / measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gage, dial bore gages, thread gages, etc.
· 1 Year of experience in any warehouse, manufacturing, industrial, or assembly operations
· Able to confidently communicate and articulate issues to the team through excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
· Able to stand and walk throughout the scheduled 8-hour work shift
· Able to safely lift up to 50lbs and perform repetitive movements while performing inspections on large number of parts
· Strives for accurate information, has excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
· Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word) and ability to write professional and concise emails
Preferred Skills and Experience:
· 2 Years of Quality Inspection experience in a similar industry (Aerospace, Automotive, etc.)
· Practical experience with ERP systems – inventory lookups, transactions, scheduling, work orders, etc.
· Experience with creating and/or modifying procedural documentation such as, but not limited to, inspection processes, quality guides, etc.
· Fork Lift Certified
· Ability to understand engineering design intent of technical drawings
· Familiarity with and interest in advanced inspection equipment and software such as 3D scanners, coordinate measuring machines, etc.
