Synergy Health Center is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and compassionate Referral Specialist to join our growing clinical team. As the primary point of contact for external care coordination, you will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive timely, seamless access to the specialty services they require. The ideal candidate will excel at multitasking, possess strong communication skills, and maintain a high standard of patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordination: Manage the end-to-end referral process, including processing provider orders, submitting insurance authorizations, and scheduling appointments with external specialists.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between our clinicians, patients, and external medical facilities to ensure efficient information flow.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date tracking of all referrals in our electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Insurance Advocacy: Verify patient insurance benefits and secure necessary prior authorizations to prevent billing delays.
- Follow-Up: Track referral outcomes and ensure that specialist notes and clinical records are returned to our office and integrated into the patient’s file.
- Patient Support: Guide patients through the referral process, answering questions and addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Follow up with patient statements for outstanding invoices.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office, clinical administrative setting, or care coordination role preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance authorization processes, and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage high-volume workflows.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Commitment to providing excellent service within a multidisciplinary health center.
