The Lead Turn Technician prepares and maintains all outgoing and incoming equipment for new and completed rentals. This position is responsible for maintaining yard cleanliness, organizing rental equipment to minimize customer wait times, and providing guidance and support to Turn Technicians to ensure efficient operations and consistent quality standards.
Essential Functions
- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of equipment or systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or system issues and implement effective solutions.
- Install and configure equipment or devices as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service logs and inventory tracking.
- Assist with the setup, calibration, and testing of equipment.
- Provide technical support to staff or customers and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Repair or replace faulty components, wiring, and parts.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly store all tools and equipment.
- Coordinate daily workflow, assign tasks, and support team members in achieving operational goals.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Customer service oriented
- Valid state-issued Driver’s License
- Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated
- Previous experience in equipment maintenance or a related role; prior leadership or lead experience preferred
Military service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day direction and support to Turn Technicians
Work Environment
- Work is primarily conducted in construction sites, equipment yards, and transportation routes
- Regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment
- Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Physically demanding environment with uneven terrain, dust, mud, and loud noise levels
- Duties may involve shop-based tasks and fieldwork, including travel to remote job sites
- Strict adherence to safety protocols is required at all times
- PPE such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection must be worn as needed
- Must be comfortable operating around large equipment, confined spaces, or elevated positions
- Lifting heavy components and materials is often required
- Flexibility and adaptability are essential due to changing job site needs
Travel Required
- May require travel for training classes or seminars
- May require driving to vendors to acquire parts for assigned repairs
Physical Demands
- Requires a high level of physical stamina and mobility in jobsite and yard environments
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of tools, chains, tarps, and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
- Prolonged standing and walking on uneven terrain such as gravel, dirt, or pavement
- Climbing in and out of trucks, onto trailers, or equipment is required
- Ability to work from various heights and maintain balance on steps or ladders
- Fine motor skills and manual dexterity required for controls, tie-downs, and documentation
- Ability to safely operate vehicles and remain alert in hazardous conditions
- Occasional pushing, pulling, and positioning of heavy materials or components
