Data Security Consultant (DSPM)

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Security Consultant to lead Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) assessments and initiatives. The ideal candidate will help organizations identify critical data risks, define business-driven DSPM use cases, evaluate leading DSPM solutions, and develop a comprehensive adoption strategy and implementation roadmap.
This role focuses on end-to-end data security transformation, including data discovery, classification, DLP, risk assessment, governance, compliance mapping, and DSPM solution selection across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
DSPM Assessment & Current State Analysis
- Perform enterprise-wide data security posture assessments across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Evaluate existing security controls against DSPM maturity models and industry frameworks such as NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.
- Identify gaps in data visibility, governance, risk management, and protection controls.
- Conduct data discovery and classification assessments across structured and unstructured data repositories.
Use Case Identification & Mapping
- Identify, define, and prioritize high-value DSPM use cases, including:
- Sensitive data exposure monitoring
- Data access governance and entitlement reviews
- Cloud data risk posture management (AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Snowflake, etc.)
- Compliance monitoring for PII, PCI, PHI, and regulated data
DSPM Product Evaluation & Selection
- Define functional and technical requirements for DSPM platforms.
- Conduct OEM capability assessments for leading DSPM solutions, including:
- BigID
- Cyera
- Symmetry Systems
- Microsoft Purview
- Security.ai
- Zscaler
- Perform feature benchmarking across:
- Data discovery
- Data classification
- Data lineage
- Risk scoring
- Automated remediation
- Create solution comparison matrices and recommendation reports.
- Ensure alignment with the existing security ecosystem, including:
- SIEM
- DLP
- IAM
- CASB
DSPM Adoption Strategy & Roadmap
- Define phased DSPM adoption strategies and implementation approaches.
- Establish governance models and operating frameworks.
- Identify pilot use cases and onboarding methodologies.
- Develop implementation roadmaps with milestones, KPIs, success metrics, and risk mitigation plans.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10 years of experience in Data Security, DSPM, DLP, Information Protection, or Cyber Security.
- Strong understanding of:
