About the Role
Synensys is seeking a highly skilled, detail‑driven Senior Accountant to support our expanding finance and compliance operations. As our CFO transitions fully into a strategic leadership role, we need an experienced accounting professional who can independently manage complex accounting tasks, ensure accuracy across all financial activities, and operate confidently within a government contracting environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute day‑to‑day accounting operations with accuracy and timeliness
- Manage AP/AR, general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and audit‑ready documentation
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and federal contracting requirements
- Maintain and optimize accounting workflows within Deltek Costpoint
- Manage all company expense report processing, including review, coding, and reimbursement workflows
- Support internal and external audits, including maintaining proper documentation
- Strengthen internal controls and identify process improvements
- Work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines without oversight
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure financial accuracy and operational alignment
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with Paychex payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, and payroll‑related reporting
- Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and departmental forecasts
- Perform banking activities, including cash management, bank reconciliations, and maintaining banking documentation
- Manage state tax returns and reconciliations, coordinating closely with external CPAs to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide backup support for finance operations as needed to ensure continuity and compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- 810 years of progressive accounting experience
- Mandatory experience with Deltek Costpoint
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing error‑free work
- Experience in government contracting, including familiarity with FAR/DFARS
- Experience supporting audits or working in an audit environment (preferred)
- Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
- Self‑starter with strong critical‑thinking skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
