Tax Director

Position Summary

The Tax Director is a senior leadership role responsible for managing key client relationships, providing strategic tax planning and consulting, overseeing complex tax engagements, and leading the tax team. This is a highly client-facing position focused on client success, business development, and practice growth, with a clear path to Partner.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Leadership : Manage key client relationships and provide strategic tax advice. Drive client satisfaction, business development, and practice growth.

• Tax Oversight : Review complex tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1041, 990). Ensure tax compliance and provide technical guidance.

• Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and develop the tax team. Support hiring, training, and performance management.

• Engagement Management : Oversee multiple tax engagements, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Manage workflow and resource allocation.

• Firm Leadership : Contribute to strategic initiatives, client retention, and firm growth. Represent the firm in the business community.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 10 years of progressive public accounting tax experience.

• 5 years of leadership experience managing tax professionals.

• Strong experience in tax planning, consulting, and client relationship management.

• Expertise reviewing complex tax returns across multiple entity types.

• Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• CPA preferred but not required.

Preferred

• Master's degree in Taxation, Accounting, or a related field.

• Experience with tax preparation/workflow software.

• Business development, client retention, or practice growth experience.
