Key Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation & Compliance:
- Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
- Gather and organize client financial information, ensuring all relevant data is included for accurate tax filings.
- Prepare workpapers, supporting schedules and documentation for tax returns and assist with tax provisions.
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns and extensions.
- Conduct tax research on various federal, state, and local tax issues, including regulations and potential tax savings opportunities.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, applying relevant knowledge to client engagements.
- Assist in maintaining accurate client files and records for audit readiness.
- Client Support:
- Assist with client inquiries regarding their tax returns, notices, and general tax matters.
- Collaborate with clients to collect necessary information, ensuring compliance with filing deadlines.
- Communicate with clients in a professional manner, maintaining confidentiality and fostering positive relationships
- Learning & Development:
- Develop a strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Participate in internal training and professional development opportunities to enhance technical tax skills.
- Take the initiative to develop problem-solving and analytical skills related to tax issues.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (master's in taxation or accounting is a plus).
- 0-5 years of experience in tax, accounting, or related fields.
- Basic understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with tax software (e.g., UltraTax, Axcess Tax, Drake, Lacerte) is a plus.
- Actively pursuing Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation.
- Internship or entry-level experience in a public accounting firm or accounting department.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret tax laws and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Office-based role with the potential for hybrid or remote work depending on company policies.
