You will represent insurers and insureds in a variety of liability and coverage disputes, coordinating with internal and external resources to achieve favorable outcomes.

We seek a dedicated, high-energy attorney to join our Insurance Defense team handling a heavy caseload of insurance defense matters. This role involves litigation from inception through trial, including depositions, hearings, motion practice, case strategy, and client counseling. You will represent insurers and insureds in a variety of liability and coverage disputes, coordinating with internal and external resources to achieve favorable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a robust caseload of insurance defense matters (first-party, third-party, general liability, property, personal injury, etc.).
- Oversee all phases of litigation: drafting pleadings, discovery (interrogatories, document requests, depositions), motions, hearings, and trial preparation.
- Prepare, examine, and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
- Develop case strategy, evaluate exposure, and provide regular updates and recommendations to clients.
- Coordinate and collaborate with experts, adjusters, co-counsel, and internal firm teams.
- Assess coverage and indemnity issues, and interface with coverage attorneys as needed.
- Conduct settlement analysis and negotiate resolution when appropriate.
- Mentor junior associates and supervise tasks (briefing, research, docketing).
- Maintain time and billing records; meet productivity expectations.
- Juris Doctor, admitted to the Texas Bar (or eligible).
- 3-7 (or more) years of experience in complex litigation and insurance defense.
- Demonstrated litigation experience: depositions, motion practice, hearings, trials.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Strong judgment, ability to manage priority conflicts, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
- Self-starter, proactive mindset, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience overseeing or supervising the work of more junior attorneys or staff.
- Willingness to be in the Fort Worth office five days a week initially; after several months, up to 2 days remote flexibility may be considered.
