Our Challenge:

Synechron is looking for Senior Microsoft Fabric & Copilot Studio Data Agent Engineer. Hands-on Senior Microsoft Fabric & Copilot Studio Engineer to design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade data and AI agent solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and the broader Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem.

The engineer will build Fabric Data Agents that enable natural-language access to governed enterprise data and integrate them with Copilot Studio agents to support business conversations, analytics, workflow automation, and decision-making

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Glen Allen, VA is $125k - $138k/year & benefits (see below).

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft Fabric and Data Agent Development

• Design, build, configure, test, and publish Microsoft Fabric Data Agents for enterprise business use cases - Connect Fabric Data Agents to: Fabric Lakehouses, Fabric Warehouses, Power BI semantic models, KQL databases, Mirrored databases, Fabric ontologies
• Develop and optimize data pipelines, notebooks, transformations, and curated data products within Microsoft Fabric.
• Create trusted semantic models, business terminology, metadata, descriptions, and instructions that improve the accuracy of natural-language queries.
• Configure example queries and agent instructions to guide the Data Agent in interpreting business questions.
• Validate agent-generated answers against source data, approved business rules, and reporting definitions.
• Troubleshoot data retrieval, grounding, query accuracy, latency, capacity, and permission issues.
• Implement monitoring and evaluation processes for response quality, reliability, and adoption.

Copilot Studio Development

• Design, develop, test, and publish custom agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• Integrate Fabric Data Agents with Copilot Studio as tools or connected agents.
• Configure topics, triggers, generative orchestration, instructions, knowledge sources, variables, entities, tools, actions, and conversation flows.
• Develop multi-agent solutions in which Copilot Studio acts as the orchestrator and invokes the appropriate Fabric Data Agent or enterprise service based on the user’s intent.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, application development, or Microsoft cloud solution development.
• 2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Power BI, or equivalent modern data platforms.
• Experience building Fabric Data Agents and connecting them to Copilot Studio.
• Experience developing multi-agent or agent-to-agent solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility.
• Experience with AI Builder, Dataverse, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Platform custom connectors.
• Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, or related Microsoft AI services.
• Hands-on experience developing agents or copilots using Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• Experience with Fabric components such as: OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Data pipelines, Notebooks, Spark, Semantic models, Power BI, Real-Time Intelligence or KQL
• Strong experience with SQL and at least one programming language, preferably Python.
• Experience integrating enterprise applications through REST APIs, custom connectors, Power Automate, or Microsoft Graph.
