Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Systems / Infrastructure Engineer – Compliance, Messaging & Archiving to design, manage, and enhance enterprise infrastructure systems in highly regulated environments. This role focuses on compliance-driven platforms, secure messaging, and electronic archiving systems, ensuring high availability, security, and adherence to regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Windows/Linux administration, enterprise system support, database management, and automation, combined with a deep understanding of compliance, audit, and data retention processes. The role requires a blend of infrastructure engineering, system reliability (SRE), and operational excellence to support mission-critical enterprise applications.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $100k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server (2016–2022) and Linux/UNIX environments, including core services such as Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Manage and support compliance-driven systems, including archiving, secure messaging, and electronic record retention platforms.
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability using System Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to improve scalability and reliability.
• Perform database administration tasks for SQL Server, Oracle, and MongoDB, including performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Bash to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency.
• Handle incident and problem management, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures to minimize recurrence.
• Utilize tools such as ServiceNow for ticket tracking, incident management, and reporting.
• Support enterprise platforms including Apache Tomcat, IIS, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, Citrix, and VMware.
• Ensure all systems adhere to regulatory compliance, audit requirements, and data retention policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production systems, resolve issues, and deliver ongoing system enhancements.
• Continuously evaluate and improve system architecture, monitoring capabilities, and operational processes.
• Provide documentation, technical guidance, and best practices to enhance team knowledge and drive operational excellence.

Requirements:

• 5 years of experience working with infrastructure systems in regulated and compliance-driven environments.
• Strong experience in archiving, secure messaging, and electronic record retention systems.
• Hands-on expertise in Windows Server Administration (2016–2022) and exposure to Linux/UNIX environments.
• Strong experience with Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Solid database experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and MongoDB.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
• Experience with incident and problem management, including monitoring and RCA using tools like ServiceNow.
• Strong understanding of System Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
• Experience supporting application servers such as Apache Tomcat and IIS.
• Experience with enterprise tools including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Citrix, VMware, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, audit processes, and data retention requirements.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work across complex systems.

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience in banking or financial services domain.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards and audit frameworks.
• Experience supporting high-availability enterprise environments.
• Exposure to cloud platforms and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
• Relevant certifications in Windows Server, Infrastructure, Cloud, or Database technologies.
