About Syndicate Bike Shop
Syndicate Bike Shop is a family-owned road, gravel, and triathlon shop serving Howard County’s cycling community. We offer bicycle sales, professional service, coaching, and classes for riders of all experience levels.
We’re looking for a friendly, dependable bike enthusiast to join our team and help manage the front of the shop. This is a customer-facing position that also supports our service department and day-to-day shop operations.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance
- Help riders find the right bicycles, parts, accessories, and gear
- Operate the Square point-of-sale system
- Process sales, service check-ins, and customer pickups
- Answer basic customer questions in person and by phone
- Assist the lead mechanic with parts lookups and service workflow
- Wash and prepare bicycles for service or customer delivery
- Keep the sales floor, displays, counter, and work areas clean and organized
- Help maintain a welcoming and professional shop environment
Qualifications
- Friendly, reliable, and comfortable working with a wide range of customers—from first-time riders to world championship qualifiers
- A genuine interest in bicycles and riding, whether you’re a commuter, recreational rider, road cyclist, gravel rider, or triathlete
- Eager to learn about bicycle parts, products, brands, and shop operations
- Organized, attentive, and willing to help wherever needed
- Able to work both independently and as part of a small team
- Retail, customer-service, or point-of-sale experience is helpful but not required
- Bicycle-shop experience is welcome but not required—we’re willing to teach the right person
Schedule
- Part-time, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position
- Shop hours are Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
- Availability for most Saturdays is required
