Production Operator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Participate or lead in several stages of filtration membrane production and element making process; including but not limited to, mixing, casting, coating, prepping, sonic welding, material cutting, trimming, netting, fiberglass reinforced plastic wrapping, processing, module QA, testing and packaging. The employee may be required to perform basic duties related to facility and equipment maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES:

• Follow established work instructions and safety procedures to manufacture, process, preserve, packaging and/or test filtration membrane related products.
• Assist the Supervisors to achieve production goals and scheduling requirements.
• Work closely with QC to ensure conformity of products to customer requirements and specifications.
• Assist in the maintenance of tooling and equipment when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisors and/or the group leaders.
• Adhere at all times to the Conduct of Safe Conduct and promote a safe work environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

§ Knowledge of basic manufacturing process and principles.

§ Knowledge of safe work practices.

§ Has the ability to read, understand and follow simple work instructions.

§ Experience using warehouse and/or manufacturing equipment.

§ Ability to read a tape measure and has basic math skills.

§ Ability to endure prolonged standing and repetitive motions, bending, pushing and pulling.

§ Proficient understanding of written and verbal English or Spanish.

§ Good attention to details, productive and reliable.

• Vacation Accrual: Accrual begins of up to two (2) weeks paid vacation per year, calculated by hours worked and based on a 40-hr work week.
• Paid Holidays: 8-10 paid holidays per year.
• Winter Shutdown: Mandatory vacation from Christmas to New Years. This usually includes three (3) paid vacation days and four (4) paid holidays over a 10-12 day period starting just prior to Christmas Eve through New Years Day. Actual number of paid vacation and holiday days may vary from year to year.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

High school education and 1-2 years of manufacturing related experience

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

Class C Driver license

Physical Demands:

The essential functions of the position may require frequent sitting, standing, walking, repetitive use of both hands, light grasping with dominant hand, finger dexterity in both hands, near/far visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision accommodation and color vision; occasional bending, lifting/carrying of 50lbs or less, light grasping with non-dominant hand, firm/strong grasping with both hands; requires seldom reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, pushing/pulling, and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.

Mental Demands:

The essential functions of the position requires the ability to read and write simple material, have simple math skills, and the ability to perform simple and complex tasks; complete forms, perform clerical tasks, compile, information, instruct others; work with precision, follow instructions, meet time requirements, memorization and problem solving skills, and use of independent judgment.

WORKING CONDITION

Work performed in a warehouse type facility with temperatures subject to normal environmental conditions. Hearing protection and safety glasses are required and additional Personal Protective Equipment and other safety equipment will be provided based on the specific job. Work surfaces are primarily concrete with anti-fatigue mats provided where feasible. Some work surfaces might also contain standing water. Personnel will stand while performing their respective job functions, for up to 12 hours a day. The employee is regularly exposed to acidic and caustic chemicals such as metabisulfites, propionic acids, caustic soda, NMP, and glues. Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electric shock. Noise level in work environment is moderate except in specific areas where ear plugs are required.
