SYNCRONYS is designated as the state of New Mexico’s Health Information Exchange and is recognized by the NMDOH as its agent for public health reporting. SYNCRONYS aims to improve health and quality of life for all in New Mexico.
The Director of Analytics leads the strategy, development, and execution of the HIE’s data analytics initiatives. This role drives the transformation of health data into actionable insights to support population health management, clinical outcomes improvement, and public health reporting. The Director will oversee the analytics infrastructure, data platforms, data governance frameworks, and advanced analytics capabilities and products, including predictive modeling, data visualization, and machine learning/AI applications and solutions.
Essential Functions:
Data Architecture and Governance:
- Collaborate with IT and quality team to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and interoperability.
- Oversee data integration, warehousing, and management practices across multiple health data sources.
- Develop and lead Data Architecture, Governance and Modernization Plans. * Interoperability maintenance and monitoring
- Lead, oversee and maintain overall HIE data architecture, ETL, data engineering and data pipelines.
Strategic Leadership:
- With the Executive Leadership team, define and then execute the organization’s analytics strategy aligned with business and clinical objectives.
- Lead efforts to expand HIE’s analytics capabilities for stakeholders such as hospitals, providers, ACOs, payers, and public health agencies.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for improving patient care and outcomes.
Analytics Development and Reporting:
- Direct the design, delivery and maintenance of analytics and data products, such as dashboards, data extracts/reports and population health metrics.
- Lead, manage and oversee SYNCRONYS Population Dashboards and Health Intelligence Platform and Data Lake.
- Develop advanced analytics models to identify trends, predict outcomes, and support decision-making.
- Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, payers, and government agencies to deliver analytics that improve care coordination and outcomes.
- Communicate complex analytical insights in a clear and actionable way to executive and clinical audiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data analytics priorities and goals.
Innovation and Technology:
- Evaluate and implement tools for data visualization, BI, and advanced analytics (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python/R, SQL, AWS Redshift).
- Evaluate and implement cutting-edge data analytics tools, technologies, and platforms to enhance data analysis capabilities.
- Stay current on emerging analytics technologies, AI/ML applications, and public health informatics trends.
- Develop and support analytics projects that address specific healthcare challenges and drive innovation.
Leadership and Team Development:
- Build, manage and lead a highly performing and multidisciplinary team of data scientists, data analysts and data engineers, providing mentorship, guidance and opportunities for professional growth.
- Cross-functional teams’ collaboration to define analytics priorities in alignment with organizational goals.
- Foster an environment of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.

Minimum Education:
Master's degree in health informatics, biostatistics, computer science or related field.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare analytics, informatics or data science.
- Expertise in SQL, data modeling, BI tools, and health data standards (HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED).
- Experience leading analytics in HIE, ACO or health system setting strongly preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of health data standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD-CDA, ICD, SNOMED, LOINC).
- Experience with healthcare data, e.g., claims, encounters, membership, laboratory and pharmacy.
- Possesses knowledge and has experience with project management tools and techniques.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Proven leadership experience and ability to work cross-functionally in healthcare or HIE environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
