Role Summary/Purpose:

Synchrony seeks a Vice President, Event Marketing & Experiences to lead high impact reputation-building experiences that advance business priorities, strengthen Corporate Affairs integration, and engage key audiences.

This leader will own flagship client events, AI and technology conferences, board meetings, hospitality evolution, and consumer or brand pilots. The role requires a strategist who can translate enterprise priorities into focused event platforms that build trust, shape perception, and create measurable business value.

The VP will operate as an enterprise connector and trusted advisor across Corporate Affairs, business teams, executives, agencies, and external partners. Success requires creative thinking, strong judgment, audience insight, production discipline, and the ability to connect message, audience, format, and outcome.

**This position is based in Stamford, CT.**

Focus Areas

  • Corporate Affairs integration: Connect event strategy to reputation, communications, advocacy, business and influential audience engagement, and enterprise storytelling priorities.

  • Flagship experience strategy: Define the purpose, audience, format, and desired outcomes for major external-facing programs, including client events, AI and technology conferences, board meetings, hospitality, and consumer or brand pilots.

  • Audience engagement: Build experiences that reach the right business audiences, deepen relationships, and create opportunities for follow-up, advocacy, and business impact.

  • Narrative and connective thread: Ensure every event has a clear throughline across message, content, executive participation, environment, hospitality, and post-event engagement.

  • Portfolio value and relevance: Assess where events create value, where models should evolve, and how budget, agency resources, and measurement support stronger outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • In addition to setting strategy, the VP will be accountable for disciplined execution across priority programs.

  • Lead ideation, planning and delivery for assigned high-visibility events, including executive readiness, agency briefing, production oversight, run-of-show quality, and stakeholder alignment.Manage budgets, agency scopes, vendors, timelines, and production decisions to ensure spend is tied to business intent and event

  • outcomes.

  • Establish success metrics, capture post-event insights, and recommend improvements to strengthen audience engagement, reputation value, and portfolio performance.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. In lieu of degree, HS Diploma/GED and 12 years of progressive event marketing, event production, experiential marketing, communications, or related experience.

  • 7 years of progressive experience in event marketing, experiential marketing, global event production, executive engagement, field marketing, corporate events, or related disciplines.

  • Proven experience leading high-visibility external events such as executive programs, client experiences, industry conferences, summits, hospitality programs, or brand experiences.

  • Experience translating business goals and audience insights into event strategies, content formats, executive moments, and measurable engagement plans.

  • Experience managing executive participation, agency partners, production teams, vendors, budgets, timelines, and senior-level stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of brand narrative, communications planning, reputation-sensitive engagement, and business audience strategy.

  • Candidates should bring senior-level experience in event marketing, executive engagement, production, and business-facing experiential strategy.

  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required including 50% or more travel for executive, client, conference, and internal events.

Preferred Characteristics

  • 10 years of progressive experience in event marketing, experiential marketing, global event production, executive engagement, field marketing, corporate events, or related disciplines.

  • Experience across technology, AI, financial services, retail, health and wellness, venture capital, innovation forums, or other business audiences relevant to Synchrony.

  • Strong political, issue, brand, and narrative fluency with the judgment to advise leaders on external-facing experiences.

  • Ability to build community, strengthen relationships, and create event models that move beyond execution to measurable influence and impact.

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to counsel senior leaders, influence cross-functional partners, and direct agencies with clarity.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions in high-stakes environments.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • High integrity and discretion with sensitive, confidential, executive-level, and reputation-bearing work.

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices.You will be required to commute to your nearestHub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regularbusiness or team meetings, training and culture events.

*Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
