We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to support our core accounting operations and ensure the accuracy of our financial records. In this role, you will be instrumental in executing financial close and reporting processes, maintaining robust department controls, and facilitating internal and external audits. What You Will Do

Accounting Operations

  • Assist with general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, the general ledger, and taxes.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records and participate in audits or reconciliations, as needed.

Financial Close and Reporting

  • Assist with end-of-month closing including preparing accrual spreadsheets, making journal entries, running reports to isolate open purchase order discrepancies, and checking expenses to ensure they are accurately allocated to the appropriate accounts.
  • Work on major projects, and ensure month-end and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist with SEC reporting as necessary.

Systems, Controls, and Process Improvement

  • Help to migrate the company’s system to the cloud and implement additional add-on software as necessary to handle tasks such as financial reporting.
  • Evaluate, develop, and improve department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Become proficient with enterprise resource planning software.

Audit and Compliance

  • Ensure all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation.
  • Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities, including the year-end inventory audit.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
  • Keep up-to-date with Master Control changes and processes, and update policies and procedures as necessary via Master Control.
  • Help maintain compliance with all local, state, federal, and company regulations.

Cross-Functional and Project Support

  • Assist the Accounting Manager and Controller with projects as necessary and with all other duties assigned.

Requirements

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, business, or related fields (business administration, finance, computer science, or information systems) or an MBA.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • General knowledge of accounting and accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense reports.
  • Experience with, and skill in, personal computers and software applications; specifically, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical thinker, and problem solver.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively without supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a publicly traded manufacturing company preferred.
  • Experience in a managerial accounting role preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data.
  • CPA, CMA, CBAP, or IIBA preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas preferred

Working Environment

  • Office environment, seasonally heated and cooled, with minimal noise levels.
  • The position requires sitting, typing, and occasional lifting of objects under 25 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills required, both orally and in writing, in person, telephonically, and via email.

Salary Description

Competitive salary based on experience.
