Position Overview

Synapses IOM is seeking a skilled Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Specialists to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for monitoring the neurological function of patients during surgical procedures, ensuring their safety and minimizing the risk of nerve damage. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals, you will provide real-time data on nerve activity, helping to guide surgical decisions and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in health sciences who are looking to gain experience in the operating room. Synapses IOM offers comprehensive on-the-job training, ensuring that you gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in health-related field
  • CNIM certification preferred, but not required
  • Have two (2) or more years of experience in IONM preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of neuroanatomy, physiology, neuroscience and pathophysiology preferred

Responsibilities

· Confirms procedure orders for surgical monitoring requested

· Obtains relevant patient history

· Verifies patient identity

· Explains IONM procedure to the patient

· Obtains or verifies informed consent for IONM

· Reviews all IONM contraindications based on patient history and surgeon orders

· Establishes and confirms an online HIPPA-compliant connection with the attending neurophysiologist

· Determines monitoring and anesthetic preferences of attending neurophysiologist

· Initiates pre-surgical communications with anesthesia team regarding these preferences

· Selects montage(s) appropriate for surgical procedures being performed
