Your role

The Sr. Manager will lead, mentor, train, develop, and manage a technical team of application scientists and technicians. This position requires working at the bench and pilot plant to support applications development in the areas of dairy, confection, bakery, and fruit preps. This position is responsible for executing pro-active R&D initiatives as well as customer driven solutions. This individual plays a pivotal role in driving product and process application development, as well as initiatives aimed at maintaining existing business and cost reduction. Understands and considers complex customer requirements across multiple and various platforms, including ingredient availability, application design as well as operational processes and technical requirements. Lastly, this position will utilize their experience to identify and advance new initiatives, technologies and work plans to deliver customer solutions both internal and external

  • Provide project leadership in conjunction with culinary applications and cross-functional teams to create applications, processes, and solutions for existing and future customers.

  • Work on multi-disciplinary projects: set direction, develop and implement plans, identify and organize project teams, coordinate resources to achieve goals, and lead all communication for highly visible, proactive initiatives.

  • Demonstrate ability to face ambiguity, create direction, and define desired outcomes in uncertain project environments.

  • Act as a hands-on scientist with a passion for technical excellence: conduct innovative applications projects and independently plan, design, and execute experiments aligned with Food BU strategic roadmaps.

  • Interface and communicate technical findings effectively to key customers and internal global partners.

  • Analyze technical data, anticipate project next steps, evaluate options, and communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Build a strong network of key industry, academic, and technical solution partners.

  • Willing and able to take on project leadership roles for long-term initia

  • Hold a B.S. in Food Science or an equivalent field; M.S. in Food Science or related field preferred

  • 7-10 years of research applications experience with strong knowledge of the U.S. food industry

  • CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) experience is a plus

  • Proven track record in team and people management

  • Detail-oriented with ability to resolve complex technical problems related to flavors and functional ingredients within food systems

  • Ability to integrate analytical and sensory data is a plus

  • Capable of explaining technical content in simple terms

  • Strong network of technical solution providers

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong computer literacy

  • Solid knowledge of:

    • Flavor production

    • Product applications

    • Market trends

    • Sales functions

    • Laboratory equipment

    • Broad customer base

  • "Sense of Urgency" mindset

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Results-oriented with a passion for creativity and innovation in complex environments

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain business relationships

  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally

  • Hands-on application development using laboratory, pilot plant, and plant equipment

  • Strong oral and written English communication skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot in production or pilot plant environments

  • Bonafide Occupational Qualifier: must be willing and able to taste experimental food products and smell flavors

  • Knowledge of:

    • SAP

    • Regulatory databases (Leffingwell and Allured)

    • USDA/FDA regulations

  • Proficiency in:

    • MS Word

    • MS Excel

    • MS PowerPoint

      Working Conditions

      • This is not a remote position

      • Required to be onsite 5 days a week

      • Work environment includes office, laboratory, pilot plant, and kitchen settings

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The expected annual salary range for this position is USD 120000.00 - USD 180000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
