SUMMARY:

The Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice is an entry-level role focused on supporting senior team members while actively learning the trade. Apprentices assist with the installation of fire protection systems and are encouraged to participate in all available training programs offered by Symons Fire Protection or external providers. A strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and a desire to grow are essential for success in this position. This role involves working on both residential (plastic) and commercial (steel) systems, with assignments alternating as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use all required safety measures while installing fire safety systems.
• Wear all personal protective equipment such as glasses, gloves, hard hats, and vests.

• Assist journeyman and foreman in the installation of fire protection systems.
• Maintain proper documentation for work performed.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Carry/move material and tools weighing up to 70lbs.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Requires some physical stamina for tasks such as climbing, reaching, and bending.
• Taking all breaks and lunch on time every day per company policy and state law.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Language Skills: This job requires that you can read, write, and speak English. It is required to have the ability to comprehend instructions, written correspondence, and read lists and reports.
• Computer Skills: This job requires the use of Paycom, Outlook, and BuilderTrend. Basic knowledge of mobile devices for communication.
• Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills are a necessity. The ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions delivered in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Blazemaster, OSHA 10, and CPR/First Aid training must be obtained within the first 3 months of employment.

Physical Requirements:

This job requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms to reach, climb, and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear; lift to 100lbs; and have clear, color vision.

1. Standing: Remains in a standing position to perform various functions of the job.
2. Climbing: ascending and descending ladders and the like.
3. Crouching: Bending the body downward or forward by bending the leg and spine.
4. Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.
5. Lifting: Raises or lowers tools and piping.
6. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
7. Vision: visual acuity to be thorough and accurate in the work assigned.
8. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at the knees or waist.
9. Talking: Communicating by phone and in person.
10. Walking and moving about on foot.
