Job Summary

The Product Quality Engineer is responsible for assuring product meets necessary quality standards and customer requirements. They will manage development of sample submissions to the final customer. They will be the primary technical customer contact for sample submissions and corrective actions. They will recommend modifications to existing production standards to achieve optimal quality within the limits of equipment capabilities. They will perform quality reviews and participate in layered audits and continuous improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Associate Degree in Engineering related field or equivalent experience

A.S.Q. Certified Quality Technician or Certified Quality Engineer preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years' experience required in Quality Assurance

Required Skills:

· Excellent Problem-Solving Skills (8D / 5 Why preferred)

· Ability to interpret technical information

· Knowledge of Statistical Analysis Tools (Minitab)

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Must be self-motivated and work well in a flexible, team environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities outlined below include but are not limited to the following: Other duties may be assigned as needed and/or required.

· Report directly to the Quality Manager.

  • Serves as a cross functional team member for the RFQ and APQP processes for new product launches following the internal launch process RASI chart.
  • Responsible for monitoring the APQP process for on time delivery of samples to the customer.
  • Champions the Characteristic Matrix development driving the control plan and metrology requirements for APQP activities including gauging techniques / instructions when necessary.
  • Champions communications with the subcon sources as necessary providing timing and sample requirements as necessary
  • Champions samples submissions for any new product launches or process change request.
  • Champions any evidentiary documentation which may be necessary for customer owned tooling/fixturing/gauging.
  • Completes change notifications (RFC) when necessary for process improvements.
  • Responsible for the timely completion and submission of required sampled data to the final customer.
  • Champions the review and final closure of APQP activities with support from the APQP cross function team.
  • Participates in daily MRB meeting and dispositions product accordingly. Helps arrange sorting activities on site or at customer locations as necessary.
  • Champions dispute resolution with customers involving product quality (leads 8D activities).
  • Champions any technical discussions with both customers and suppliers.
  • Champions and/or preforms dimensional change, MSA, and Correlation studies as needed.
  • Ensures compliance to ISO Standards & other Customer Specific Requirements
  • Complies with all company health and safety procedures
  • Perform other duties as required.
