About the Role
The Workforce Benefits Pricing Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated actuarial professional to join our growing organization. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment where priorities evolve, demonstrate strong analytical acumen, and take initiative to drive actuarial excellence and innovation. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex actuarial projects, mentor junior team members, and make a direct impact on the profitability and competitiveness of Symetra's Workforce Benefits products.
What you will do
- Mentor and review work from junior actuaries and actuarial analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Own the forecast process and results for the Workforce Benefits business, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and strategic alignment with corporate objectives.
- Lead the team's intelligence efforts, providing insight and analysis to support data-driven decision-making and business strategy.
- Serve as the strategic lead for the team's reinsurance initiatives, driving process efficiency and optimizing risk management outcomes.
- Champion education and upskilling within the broader actuarial team, identifying opportunities for learning, development, and technical enhancement.

Compensation
Salary Range:$125,000 - $208,400 plus eligibility for annual bonus programs
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a strong quantitative background including college-level mathematics
- 8 years of actuarial experience in Group Benefits pricing, valuation, or financial analysis
- FSA designation or near FSA
- Proficiency in actuarial modeling software and programming (e.g., Python, R, SQL/Snowflake)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience leading projects or mentoring junior actuarial staff preferred
- High school diploma required
