What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Day Class Teacher ( Mild/Moderate) position at Symbal Education?

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Special Day Class (SDC) Teacher to join our team in Sacramento. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. As an SDC Teacher, you will play a key role in designing and implementing instructional programs that meet each student’s individual needs while encouraging their academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP goals.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and behavioral challenges.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching methods, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and differentiated instruction.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes learning, independence, and social-emotional development.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and other support staff to ensure student success.
  • Maintain accurate student records, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings with families and educational teams.
  • Provide ongoing communication and support to parents and caregivers regarding student progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential – Mild/Moderate Disabilities required.
  • Previous teaching experience with students in a Special Day Class setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, curriculum design, and classroom management.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
