Role Summary
Syman is seeking a Stormwater Compliance Manager to lead our environmental design and technical writing team. This role manages staff, oversees workload and quality, and supports the preparation of stormwater and erosion control documents for construction projects. The ideal candidate has leadership ability, strong technical writing skills, and experience with stormwater compliance, erosion and sediment control, and construction plan review.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage staff responsible for stormwater and environmental document preparation
- Assign work, monitor deadlines, and maintain quality standards
- Review documents, maps, and plans for accuracy, consistency, and completeness
- Oversee preparation of SWPPPs, erosion control plans, dewatering plans, and related compliance documents
- Research project requirements and applicable local, state, and owner standards
- Coordinate with project managers on schedules, deliverables, and client expectations
- Train team members on regulations, quality standards, and document requirements
- Improve department processes, workflows, and consistency
- Support permit filings and compliance-related submittals
- Assist with field support or rain event inspections as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Technical Writing, or a related field required; candidates with 4 years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Experience in stormwater compliance, erosion and sediment control, environmental documentation, or related construction support
- Leadership or management experience preferred
- Strong technical writing, organization, and quality control skills
- Ability to read construction plans and interpret project requirements
- Familiarity with Idaho stormwater requirements, CGP requirements, ITD/DOT standards, or local jurisdiction requirements preferred
