Summer Days Camp Manager – Sylvania Recreation Corp. (SRC)
Seasonal: Monday-Friday; shifts between 7:30a-5:30p
Summary: The Summer Days Camp Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Sylvania Recreation’s Summer Days Camp. The Camp Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, organized, and high-quality experience for campers and families. Acting on behalf of the Athletic Program Coordinator, the Camp Manager provides on-site leadership and decision making, manages daily programming, and ensures safety and behavior management plans are followed. This role involves close interaction with children and parents/guardians and is responsible for supervising camp counselors.
Responsibilities:
Camp Operations
- Oversee all daily camp activities and adjust based on daily needs
- Maintain appropriate camper-to-staff ratios
- Collaborate with Athletic Program Coordinator to plan camp activities and field trips
- Assist with daily registration and tracking of all campers, including at drop off and/or pickup
Staff Supervision
- Directly supervise and provide coaching, feedback, and support to 6-8 Camp Counselors
- Address minor staff performance concerns and report issues to the Athletic Program Coordinator
- Assist with training and onboarding seasonal staff
Camper Safety
- Responsible for 30-50 campers at a time
- Enforce all safety standards and procedures of Sylvania Recreation and the Summer Days Camp program
- Complete and maintain medical and allergy information, along with incident and accident reports.
Camper Engagement
- Create, plan, lead, and actively participate in structured games and activities for campers ages 1st-6th grade
- Create an inclusive and positive environment for all campers
Professional Expectations
- Remain professional and communicative with parents at drop off and pickup
- Communicate any concerns to Athletic Program Coordinator promptly
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods while actively engaging in games and physical activities
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program for Education, Child Development, Sports Management, Recreation or related field.
- Previous supervisory or camp leadership experience preferred
- CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification before the start of camp
- Starting Pay Range- $14-$17/hr - DOQ
- Reports to- Athletic Program Coordinator
