If you can seamlessly blend reliable mathematical expertise with infectious enthusiasm, we want you on our team!

At Sylvan of SF, you will do much more than teach formulas—you will be a confidence builder, an academic cheerleader, and a coach who makes learning genuinely fun. You will be well supported by our team of Directors, who handle all parent communication, customer service, marketing, and scheduling, leaving you free to focus entirely on delivering great instruction. We offer flexible schedules and participation in a vibrant learning community.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Deliver expert instruction: Leverage your strong math foundation to provide accurate, clear, and conceptually sound tutoring from elementary basics up through advanced high school math subjects.
  • Simplify the complex: Translate abstract math concepts into clear, digestible, and visual explanations tailored to each student's learning style.
  • Bring the energy: Share your genuine passion for math in an upbeat way that gets students excited to tackle challenging problems.
  • Spark connection: Greet every student warmly and kick off each session with personal engagement to build immediate rapport.
  • Coach for confidence: Use praise, encouragement, and Sylvan “tokens” to turn tough learning milestones into celebrated victories.
  • Keep it dynamic: Manage your students, tasks, and time to create a balanced, highly productive, and structured instructional session. [1]
  • Track the wins: Evaluate and accurately record the progress of each student on their program assignment to showcase their growth.
  • Collaborate: Communicate specific student needs to Center staff and participate in periodic team huddles and ongoing growth training.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A naturally fun, engaging, and coaching-oriented personality.
  • Proven ability to captivate a student's attention, help them overcome any math anxiety, and inspire a love for learning.
