Sylvan Learning of Park Ridge is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable Math Instructor to work with students in grades 1 through 8. If you enjoy helping students build confidence while strengthening their math skills, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Teach elementary and middle school math in a supportive, engaging environment.
- Work with students in a small-group setting (maximum 3 students per instructor) using Sylvan's proven instructional programs.
- Motivate students while helping them master foundational math concepts, including:
- Number Sense
- Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division
- Fractions & Decimals
- Ratios & Proportions
- Pre-Algebra
- Algebra Readiness
- Basic Geometry
- Build positive relationships that encourage confidence and academic success.
- Monitor student progress and communicate instructional observations with the Education Director.

Qualifications
- Strong understanding of mathematics through 8th-grade level (Pre-Algebra/Algebra I readiness).
- Bachelor's degree or current enrollment toward a degree in Education, Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or a related field preferred.
- Previous teaching, tutoring, coaching, or experience working with children is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Friendly, patient, energetic, and dependable.
- Passion for helping students succeed.
Schedule
This is a part-time, in-person position.
Typical instructional hours include:
- Monday–Thursday: Afternoon and evening hours
- Friday: Limited afternoon/evening hours
- Saturday mornings
Flexible scheduling is available for qualified candidates.
