Our company seeks someone who can work independently and as part of a team. Monitors are responsible for safely assisting students going from one location to another.

Responsibilities

This is a summary of the duties and responsibilities of our monitors. Others may be needed based on situations or assigned by a supervisor.

  • Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats, booster seats, and safety vest seat mounts.
  • Lifting may be required.
  • Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary.
  • Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in English.
  • Must be available for morning (5:45 AM. to 10:00 AM.), afternoon (1:00 PM. to 5:45 PM.), and sometimes mid-day (11:00 AM. - 2:00 PM.) routes.
  • Maintain a clean environment
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors and drivers.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school-age children with special needs.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license or ID
  • Must pass CORI, fingerprint tests, and random drug screenings.
  • Be able to enter and exit the vehicle routinely, safely, and without difficulty.
  • Be able to conduct a thorough inspection for student safety.
  • Be able to assist students on and off the van in the case of an emergency.
  • Must be able to position wheelchairs and safely install and secure wheelchair restraints.
  • Must be able to manually operate the wheelchair lift when necessary.
  • Complete a daily log as required.
  • Must have a car unless living in Douglas, MA
