We are looking for:
A student in pursuit of a science degree to safety procedures in the Syensqo environment and to develop good safety habits. He/she is also expected to carefully record and summarize generated data for the project. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of a senior scientist on the related project.
We count on you for:
  • The candidate will investigate the role of novel biosurfactants, polymers, peptides and proteins to design new delivery systems and formulations for use in Agriculture of the future.
  • Current technologies used in farms today are largely derived from petrochemicals including surfactants, polymers and even microplastics.
  • The overall goal of this research at the PhysChem Cell is to explore high performance biosourced and sustainable alternatives. This will entail fundamental investigations of molecular interactions between biosurfactants, biopolymers, proteins and peptides and their self assemblies.
  • The challenge is to translate this understanding of self-assembly to design high performance functional delivery strategies, and replace low cost products currently used for spraying pest control agents, herbicides, or as dispersants, seed coatings and many other applications.
  • The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and utilize different physical chemistry techniques and tools; such as optical microscopy, confocal, atomic force microscopy, spectroscopy, zeta potential, light scattering, ellipsometry, quartz microbalance, isothermal titration calorimetry and/or rheology.
  • The candidate will learn safety procedures in the Syensqo environment and to develop good safety habits. He/she is also expected to carefully record and summarize generated data for the project. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of a senior scientist on the related project.

You will bring:
  • In pursuit of of Bachelor or Master degree in Chemistry, Polymer science, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science
  • Hands on lab experience
  • Interest in laboratory work
  • Proactivity, multitasking and open-mindedness
  • Data processing (such as Excel, Google Sheets)
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing in English
