Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests on a weekly basis, including physical wet-chemistry and instrumental techniques.
- Analyze both routine and non-routine samples using ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) and AA (Atomic Absorption) instruments.
- Deliver high-quality laboratory testing results in a timely manner.
- Participate in special projects based on customer and team needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Troubleshoot test methods and instruments as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance testing processes.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments.
- Monitor experiments, make observations, calculate and record results, and develop conclusions.
- Follow written instructions accurately.
- Conduct testing and analysis related to the Solvent Extraction (SX) mining process, including:
- Chemical analysis to determine metal ion concentrations.
- pH and ORP measurement to ensure optimal extraction conditions.
- Density and viscosity assessments of solutions.
- ICP and AA analysis for precise metal quantification.
- Phase separation tests to evaluate extraction and stripping efficiency.
- Perform precise titration analyses to determine chemical concentrations.
- Conduct Interfacial Tension (IFT) measurements using the DVT 50 instrument.
- Prepare chemical solutions with accuracy and adherence to standard protocols.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED, with 1 - 2 years of related experience.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in general laboratory skills: Data analysis, pipetting, safety and cleanliness in a lab, understanding of chemistry, and experience in physical/wet-chemistry/instrumentation testing.
- Competency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Environment Applications.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with local staff.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a small office environment where coworkers assist each other as needed.
- Familiarity with basic scientific principles and laboratory experience.
- Computer literacy.
- The position is office-based with no travel required.
- Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $61,164 to $71,760 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
