The Dispatcher – Truck/Trailer is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and tracking the movement of trucks, trailers, and drivers to ensure timely and efficient delivery and pickup of equipment, parts, and materials across Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners locations and customer sites. This position works closely with Service, Parts, and Sales departments to optimize logistics operations and maintain excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedule and dispatch drivers, trucks, and trailers for equipment deliveries, transfers, and pickups based on service, sales, and internal needs.
Communicate daily with drivers, branch teams, and customers to coordinate routes and timing.
Maintain accurate records of driver schedules, loads, deliveries, mileage, and equipment movements.
Monitor and track fleet locations and status throughout the day using dispatch software, GPS, or other tools.
Prioritize and adjust schedules as needed due to weather, delays, or changing business needs.
Ensure all transportation complies with DOT and company safety regulations.
Support equipment loading/unloading coordination and verify accurate documentation for deliveries and returns.
Collaborate with Service, Parts, and Sales departments to ensure efficient flow of goods and minimize downtime.
Assist in maintaining proper utilization and maintenance scheduling for trucks and trailers.
Communicate with management about driver performance, route efficiency, and potential process improvements.
Provide exceptional customer service when communicating with both internal and external contacts.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
Prior experience in dispatching, transportation, logistics, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle maintenance, and freight scheduling.
Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
Strong computer skills; experience with dispatch, GPS, or fleet management systems preferred.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer or radio system.
Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) when assisting with loading/unloading equipment or parts.
Ability to work in office and outdoor environments as needed.
Work Environment:
Primarily office-based with frequent communication to drivers and field personnel.
Some exposure to outdoor weather conditions and heavy equipment environments.
