Description:
The Instructional Coach – Art enhances creative programming by assisting with curriculum planning and coaching DSP staff in instructional delivery related to visual and creative arts. This role supports quality, person-centered programming while also performing DSP responsibilities as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and modeling to DSPs on instructional and creative engagement strategies.
- Assist with professional development of DSP staff.
- Monitor instructional quality and provide feedback.
- Support scheduling, planning, and staff coverage.
- Serve as a point of escalation for instructional or engagement concerns.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in developing curriculum and lesson plans focused on visual arts, crafts, and creative expression.
- Model art instruction techniques adapted to varying abilities.
- Maintain art studios, materials, and supplies in an organized and safe manner.
- Support DSPs in aligning art activities with person-centered goals.
- Encourage self-expression, independence, and confidence through creative activities.
- Assist with documentation, data collection, and outcome tracking.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support individual plans.
- Provide direct support coverage as required.
- Serve as the program expert for art-based instruction.
- Uphold agency policies and program standards.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills.
- Ability to train and model creative instructional techniques.
- Organizational and adaptability skills.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
- Experience with art instruction, creative programming, or visual arts a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 35 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, or move for extended periods.
- Ability to assist consumers with physical and personal support needs.
- Willingness to travel to program sites as needed.
