Sycamore Mission Critical is seeking a Senior Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with extensive Project Management skills in Ashburn, VA. The candidate is expected to have 10 years of experience in either data center commissioning, design, or construction. The candidate would occupy an on-site support position. The candidate will be expected to work closely with the client and building operations team to ensure reliability within the data centers is maintained.
Responsibilities Include:
Client Interaction: Engage with the client’s onsite personnel to understand their requirements and collaboratively develop site operational procedures and standards. This includes regular meetings and consultations to stay aligned with the client's needs and expectations.
Procedure Development and Adherence: Create detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) specific to data center operations. Ensure these documents are comprehensive, and effectively address all aspects of operational workflows.
Maintenance Event Oversite: Ensure all procedures are followed and documented during maintenance events without deviation. This includes periodic after hours, and weekend events to meet client requirements.
Project Management: Engage with onsite personnel to define project scope and deliverables. This includes maintaining schedules, delegating tasks, and managing resources.
Power Consumption Monitoring: Regularly review power consumption reports to ensure efficient use of energy resources. Identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
Equipment Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) equipment issues. Solve related problems using advanced diagnostic techniques and industry best practices.
Technical Writing: Develop high level documentation such as failure analysis reports and equipment analysis reports. These documents should be written in a clear and concise manner so that both technical and non-technical personnel understand the materials within.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency operational calls. Provide technical support and guidance to resolve urgent issues, ensuring minimal disruption to data center operations.
Other Responsibilities: Marketing, landlord maintenance review, simplified one-line creation, thermographic surveying, power quality analysis, and lease agreement review.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational Background: A U.S. Bachelor’s degree in either Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field. Alternatively, equivalent military or maritime experience in a technical electrical or mechanical systems field will be considered.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in the offered role or similar positions. This experience should include commissioning, mechanical or electrical design, or construction experience for data centers.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements is essential. Fluent in Microsoft Office products (especially Excel and Project), CAD, and Revit.
