As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Swope Health, you will be a part of a team that delivers quality care to the people who need it the most. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric assessment and treatment to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in compliance with clinical guidelines, administrative policies/procedures of Swope Health , the State of Missouri and accrediting/funding agencies If you have a passion for working with a team of dedicated caregivers to make care visible every day, this role is for you.
Primary Functions:
- Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, that include evaluation of mental status, substance use, functional strengths and impairments, health behaviors, trauma, family/social and developmental history and a thorough risk assessment, inclusive of current and past history of violence, suicidal or self-harm ideation/behavior, and homicidal ideation/behavior;
- Analyzes the relationship between normal physiology and specific system alterations associated with mental health problems and psychiatric disorders;
- Collects data from multiple sources using assessment techniques that are appropriate to the patient’s language, culture and developmental stage, including, but not limited to, screening evaluations, psychiatric rating scales, genograms and other standardized instruments;
- Diagnoses psychiatric and co-occurring disorders and provides medication management services according to clinical guidelines for anti-depressant and psychotropic medication;
- Submits thorough clinical documentation for all treatment/services rendered within 24 hours of service provision, to include plans for follow up care and recommended referrals;
- Orders and interprets findings of relevant diagnostic laboratory tests;
- Develops person centered treatment plans for individual’s with mental health problems and psychiatric disorders through continual consultation with the interdisciplinary team;
- Ensures treatment plans are reflective of bio-psycho-social theories, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines;
Executes physician orders; - Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences to assist in planning and revising person centered treatment goals, objectives and clinical interventions;
Successful Candidates will have:

Master of Science in Nursing
-
Licensed in the State of Missouri and have obtained certification of Family Psychiatric Mental Health.

Two (2) years experience in a hospital, community health center, community mental health center, or correctional setting. Psychiatric nursing and supervisory experience preferred;

Thorough knowledge of professional medical theory, practices and standards.

Thorough knowledge of various therapeutic techniques and modalities used to treat people with serious mental illness, serious emotional disturbances,

developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, subordinates, students and all members of the interdisciplinary team;

Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and treat a culturally and socioeconomically diverse population;

Ability to appropriately exercise independent judgment;

ACLS Certification;

Experience with an electronic health record/electronic medical record (HER/EMR) preferred.
