Our Client, a products company, is wholly devoted to design, engineering, sales, and support of telemetry data systems and tactically oriented mission-critical communications solutions. They are headquartered in Hollywood, MD, with a great team, well-established product lines, and a growing client base.
They are seeking a Software Test Engineer to work as a member of the Product Engineering Team to develop software-based product solutions.
Responsibilities:
-Reviewing software requirements, design specifications, and / or concept sketches to establish baseline understanding of the development effort.
-Meeting with development managers to discuss software specifications and controls.
-Using the software as customers would to analyze its functional properties.
-Designing/Updating manual and automated test procedures to evaluate each software product.
-Running test programs to ensure that testing protocols evaluate the software correctly.
-Tweaking the software testing systems for maximum performance.
-Finalizing and documenting testing procedures, all technical issues discovered, along with any recommended solutions.
-Completing final tests and creating test reports in a timely manner to meet desired release deadlines.
-Presenting test reports to management and suggesting software fixes where appropriate.
-Support co-worker development efforts, and solicit assistance, when necessary or appropriate.
-Execute tasking in accordance with quality management system (QMS) processes and procedures; providing recommendations for continuous improvement as the opportunity arises.
-Participate in relevant company and industry events.
Skills:
-In-depth knowledge of program testing software including NUnit.
-Experience working with popular operating systems including Windows and Linux.
-Strong attention to detail, along with excellent software troubleshooting skills.
-Ability to collate data and compile test reports.
-Ability to design and write complex software testing procedures.
-Ability to manage responsibilities independently and work remotely.
-Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
-Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
-Excellent listening skills as well as solid verbal and written communication skills.
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
-Ability to demonstrate / present systems and software to clients.
-Excellent general analytical skills.
Desired Experience:
-Proven work experience as a software test engineer.
-Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous integration, build processes, formal testing, and operations.
-Journeyman level, or greater, knowledge of applicable software testing technologies with 7 years of relevant industry experience.
-Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
-Experience and proficiency with tool sets listed below.
Tool sets:
-MATLAB, Microsoft 365, Subversion, Visual Studio, NUnit.
