Location: Sanford, NCPay Rate: $32/hDuration: 12 MonthsJob OverviewCaterpillar’s Building Construction Products (BCP) Procurement division is seeking a Packaging Engineer 2 to support Supply Chain Packaging operations. This role contributes to securing new product component packaging, improving cost competitiveness, and ensuring high-quality standards for components and finished products. This is a backfill role with strong cross-functional interaction and hands-on packaging engineering responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop proper packaging designs that ensure part containment, protection, and optimize transportation and supply network operations.Support NPI initiatives by collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Part Suppliers to create packaging solutions for machine components.Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phases.Coordinate with assembly planning teams to ensure line-side storage efficiency and ergonomic compliance.Develop kitting and sequencing packaging for in-plant use.Address and resolve safety, quality, and packaging-related issues.Perform containerization analyses and prepare quotes as needed.Manage repair and maintenance activities for returnable packaging.Review supplier design proposals, specifications, and drawings to determine project feasibility.Communicate with facilities regarding receiving, warehousing, and line-side delivery packaging concerns.Lead medium- to high-risk Green Belt projects with product and logistics teams.Adapt to varying business needs; ability to work a 4– or 5-day schedule.
