PURPOSE:
The Automation Engineer will play a key role in the design, integration, and optimization of automation systems for an automotive assembly project. This position focuses on the integration of conveyor systems and PLC programming, ensuring alignment with various standards. The role requires strong technical expertise in automation, a proactive approach to system commissioning and testing, and the ability to work collaboratively with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, integrate, and optimize automation systems with a focus on conveyor system integration in automotive assembly lines.
- Review, validate, and optimize PLC programs and E-plans to ensure they meet project specifications and standards.
- Apply VASS and other automation standards to ensure compliance and quality in system integration.
- Lead system commissioning, prototype testing, and ongoing optimization activities to ensure operational efficiency.
- Interface with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, technical alignment, and integration of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) systems.
- Track project milestones, document progress, and ensure the automation system meets all specified requirements.
- Provide support in identifying and troubleshooting technical issues, escalating them when necessary to ensure the project remains on track.
- Maintain thorough project documentation, including technical specifications, testing reports, and meeting minutes.
- Solid background in automation engineering, particularly in conveyor system integration for automotive assembly.
- Proficient in reviewing and validating PLC programs and E-plans, with hands-on experience in program optimization.
- Strong familiarity with VASS and other automation standards.
- Experience in system commissioning, prototype testing, and optimization of automation systems.
- Capable of interfacing with suppliers to ensure TPM integration and on-time delivery of system components.
- Experience tracking project milestones and managing timelines using tools such as MS Office, Jira, Confluence, and MS Teams.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required.
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
