We are seeking bright, curious, and ambitious engineering talent with a keen interest in thinking outside of the box to solve hard and interesting engineering problems. The successful candidate will be a part of a strong team of controls, systems, electrical, and mechanical engineers in the design, integration, and testing of control systems for a variety of applications and clients.
Controls Engineer at SwitchBox Responsibilities include:
- Assist in translation of customer and stakeholder needs into detailed technical requirements
- Work collaboratively with the project team to define and select the most appropriate system architecture
- Design, develop, and validate software applications for a variety of platforms and applications
- Contribute to system verification and validation planning, in particular concerning proper system function and behavior
- Guide the team on the appropriate selection of tools and processes for a given project
- Assist with systems modeling and simulation activity
- Compile lessons learned and foster continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of project execution

Preferred Credentials
- Achieved Engineering degree from an accredited university with a focus on software
- Master’s degree in software engineering or related course of study (e.g. computer engineering)
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with multiple coding languages and platforms; C/C /etc
- Ability to extrapolate software requirements from multiple sources using a variety of methods
- Experience with automotive software development and production processes
- Experience with automotive control systems, or comparable safety critical systems
- Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced and self-directed work environment
- Advanced simulation capability including Matlab/Simulink/CarSim/UML/SysML
- Advanced electrical system diagnostic and troubleshooting capability, including the identification and mitigation of common failure mechanisms
- Intimate familiarity with automotive software systems and selection of proper tools, components, and standards used in development, validation, maintenance and service scenarios
