Angie Peluse founded Swimming Simply in 2021 when she struggled to find swim lessons for her own kids that provided excellent coaching and a superior team environment. She deeply believes that everyone can swim and with great coaching, can find joy in the water.
Position Overview
Title: Mini-Camp Director
Position Classification: Part-time / Seasonal (Summer)
Hours: ~20–30 hours per week depending on camp weeks assigned
Camp Dates: June 1st - June 26, 2026 and July 6th - July 17, 2026
Camp Locations & Dates:
- Camps:
- Hinkley High School - June 1-5th
- Aurora Central High School - June 8-26th and July 6-17th
- Wheat Ridge (Half Day AM Camps Only) - June 1-26th and July 6-17th
Camp Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Commitment:
- Directors are expected to work assigned camp weeks (minimum of 6 weeks)
- Directors should plan for ~8:00 AM – 1:00 PM daily (includes setup, breakdown, and staff coordination)

Role Summary
The Mini-Camp Director is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and overall success of Swimming Simply’s Mini-Camp programs at either Wheat Ridge or Aurora locations. This role combines instructional leadership, operations management, staff coaching, and customer experience to ensure that every swimmer has a safe, fun, and high-quality camp experience.
This is a highly visible leadership role that sets the tone for camp culture, instructional quality, and family satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesCamp Leadership & Execution
- Lead all aspects of daily camp operations from setup to dismissal
- Create a safe, structured, and high-energy environment for swimmers
- Ensure camp runs on schedule and transitions are smooth
- Manage group rotations, staffing assignments, and pool usage
Instructional Excellence
- Ensure all instruction aligns with the Swimming Simply Method and lesson flows
- Support instructors in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback to staff
- Step in to teach or support swimmers as needed
Staff Management
- Lead daily staff huddles (pre-camp post-camp)
- Assign roles and responsibilities clearly
- Coach instructors on:
- Group management
- Skill progression
- Swimmer engagement and behavior
- Maintain a positive, accountable team culture
Swimmer & Family Experience
- Ensure every swimmer:
- Feels safe and supported
- Is progressing and having fun
- Communicate with families as needed:
- Progress updates
- Behavioral or support needs
- Deliver a high-touch, welcoming experience aligned with retention priorities (fun, progress, personal connection)
Safety & Risk Management
- Maintain constant supervision and adherence to safety protocols
- Lead emergency response if needed (in alignment with EAPs)
- Ensure proper ratios, safe transitions, and equipment use
- Never compromise swimmer safety for operations
Operations & Logistics
- Oversee:
- Attendance and check-in/out
- Equipment setup and organization
- Cleanliness and facility standards
- Coordinate with Deck Managers / Ops Leads as needed
- Ensure camp materials (toys, boards, report cards) are ready daily
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong swim instruction experience (group private lessons)
- Experience leading or mentoring instructors
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- CPR / First Aid certified
- Ability to be in-water and on deck for extended periods
- Experience running camps or managing programs
- Previous experience working with children and their families
- Background in competitive swimming or advanced stroke knowledge
- Experience working with diverse or adaptive swimmers
