Surface Mount Technology Machines- SMT
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and process optimization of Fuji Surface Mount Technology (SMT) automation equipment. This role requires a highly motivated individual with strong technical aptitude who can deliver
exceptional service to customers while representing Fuji America with professionalism and expertise.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Equipment Installation & Commissioning:
• Perform on-site installation, configuration, and startup of Fuji SMT automation systems across North America.
• Execute system retrofits, upgrades, and custom equipment modifications. • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, software, and process-related issues.
• Provide advanced technical support both onsite and remotely, ensuring minimal customer downtime.
• Collaborate with Fuji's technical teams to escalate and resolve advanced engineering issues.
• Deliver structured operator and maintenance training for customer personnel.
• Advise customers on best practices for process optimization, preventive maintenance, and system efficiency.
• Collect and analyze technical data for troubleshooting, reliability tracking, and process improvement.
• Prepare clear, detailed service reports, documentation, and feedback to customers and Fuji management.
• Serve as a technical liaison between customers and Fuji engineering departments.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical & Soft Skills:
• Proficiency with interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawing, and mechatronic system diagrams.
• Comprehensive understanding of Windows-based operating systems, software installation, and system configuration.
• Familiarity with networking concepts and modern computing applications.

Travel Requirements
• Travel up to 75% throughout assigned territory/nationwide
• Flexibility to travel with short notice and for extended periods of time • Overnight travel may be required
• Valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record required
• Ability to travel by air and car
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (mechanical, electrical or related field) or equivalent combination of technical education, military training or relevant experience.
• Experience with SMT equipment is strongly preferred or similar automation machinery
• Strong background in mechanical and electrical diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily at customer manufacturing facilities, and may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, and varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees are required daily to stand, walk, and work with hand and automated tools. Employees are required to climb or balance, reach for controls, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and stand for long periods. Must occasionally lift, move push or pull up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
