Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer with expertise in FDA, USDA, and other PGA compliance to join our team. This role involves preparing and processing import documentation, ensuring compliance with CBP and other regulatory agencies, and facilitating smooth clearance for imported goods. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of tariff classifications, trade regulations, and the ability to coordinate with clients and government entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file customs entries for import shipments, ensuring full compliance with CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, and other PGAs.
- Review and process import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bill of lading, and PGA-required forms.
- Communicate with U.S. Customs, FDA, USDA, and other regulatory agencies to resolve compliance issues and expedite shipment clearance.
- Verify import requirements for FDA-regulated products (e.g., food, pharmaceuticals), USDA-regulated goods (e.g., agriculture, plants, live animals), and other PGA-controlled items.
- Monitor and track shipment status, addressing customs holds, examinations, and rejections.
- Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Stay updated on customs regulations, trade compliance policies, and PGA requirements.
- Assist in duty drawback programs, compliance audits, and tariff classification reviews as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in customs brokerage, with direct experience handling FDA, USDA, and other PGA-regulated imports.
- Education: High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in logistics, international trade, or a related field is a plus.
- Certification: Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in customs brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of CBP regulations, FDA Prior Notice, USDA APHIS requirements, and other PGA import processes.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with government agencies, clients, and internal teams.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to multi-task, analyze complex regulatory requirements, and ensure 100% compliance.
