Commercial Electrical Estimator
Hammans Electric specializes in Commercial Electrical Services and is located on the Northeast side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Swift Air Mechanical and Hammans Electric are strategically partnering together! Our team is searching for an experienced Commercial Electrical Estimator.
The Commercial Estimator will be responsible for all take-offs, pricing, and producing the final estimate and/or budgets based upon conceptual documents, schematics, design development, design build and construction documents. The Estimator must interface with other members of the project team(s) and complete a hand-off to Project Management once contracts are executed with all project details to be incorporated into the final work product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Estimate Electrical installation in both engineered and design/build Commercial Projects.
- Estimate necessary labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs to create detailed and competitive bids.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and technical requirements for commercial electrical projects.
- Perform detailed take-offs for equipment and material pricing.
- Distribute bid requests to all applicable vendors and subcontractors.
- Ensure estimates are completed and sent prior to deadlines.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to gather information, define scope, and address potential issues.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers.
- Review prints and details of projects with Estimator and/or Project Manager.
- Ensure all job specific instructions are shared with the team to lead field personnel.
- Update costs, track project performance, monitor for changes that impact project’s costs and schedule.
- Ensure projects are compliant with codes and safe.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in construction management preferred, not required. A professional background in electrical engineering, construction management, or related field is preferred with experience in electrical estimating or contracting.
- Extensive knowledge and mastering of all Foreman competencies required.
- Thorough knowledge of industry guidelines, installation procedures, and specifications.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documents.
- Extensive knowledge of all types of tools, equipment, materials, and resources.
- Possess strong skills in cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to determine project profitability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, vendors, and internal team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous organizational skills are needed to manage multiple projects and complex data.
- The ability to work both indoors and outdoors, includes exposure to weather elements and climbing ladders.
- Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
