What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Advisor position at Swickard Anchorage, LLC d/b/a Mercedes-Benz of Anchorage?
Description
Anchorage, AK | Mercedes-Benz | Luxury European | Hospitality | Parts counter | Automotive parts | Parts lookup | DMS | Dealership experience required | Alaska | 401k | Veterans encouraged to apply | $25 - $30/hr
IS THIS YOU?
• You have automotive parts or service experience, you're comfortable with computer-based parts lookup and DMS platforms, and you find the right part the first time without creating delays for the technicians and advisors who depend on you
• You're organized, proactive with communication, and ready to bring that foundation to a well-run Anchorage Mercedes-Benz store where the parts department is a critical link in service throughput
WHO WE ARE
Mercedes-Benz of Anchorage is part of Swickard Auto Group, a hospitality company in the retail automotive space built on one idea -- be the favorite of our guests, our employees, and our manufacturing partners. We operate 40 dealerships across the West Coast, Alaska, and Hawaii, and whether you're in Anchorage or anywhere else in our network, the standard is the same. Do right by people, every time.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Fill internal parts orders for service technicians accurately and efficiently -- pulling, staging, and delivering parts to the correct bay without delay
• Look up Mercedes-Benz OEM part numbers using electronic parts catalogs -- identifying correct parts, supersessions, and compatible alternatives accurately
• Process retail and wholesale parts sales -- assisting walk-in guests and wholesale accounts with parts lookup, pricing, and order fulfillment
• Communicate backorders, substitutions, and availability updates proactively to technicians and service advisors -- parts delays that go uncommunicated create repair delays that reach the guest
• Process parts returns, cores, and warranty parts accurately and per department procedures
• Assist with receiving, binning, and inventory organization to keep the department accurate and accessible
• Maintain accurate records in the DMS throughout every transaction
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Prior automotive parts, service, or dealership experience -- required. Familiarity with how a dealership parts department operates is the baseline expectation for this role
• Computer proficiency required -- parts lookup, DMS platforms, electronic parts catalogs, and Microsoft Office are daily tools. Comfort with technology is not optional
• Mercedes-Benz or European brand parts experience a meaningful advantage -- not required, and MBZ-specific training is provided
• Accurate and fast with parts lookups -- you verify part numbers before pulling, not after
• Proactive communicator -- when a part is backordered or superseded, the technician and advisor hear it from you immediately
• Organized and detail-oriented -- inventory accuracy and consistent documentation discipline are part of the job
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
WHAT WE OFFER
• $25 - $30/hr
• 401(k) plan
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Life insurance and supplemental coverage options
• Paid time off and paid holidays
• Career growth -- strong Parts Advisors grow into parts specialist, wholesale, and parts management roles at Swickard
• Employee vehicle purchase and service discounts
WHY MERCEDES-BENZ OF ANCHORAGE
• Alaska's vehicle demands -- extreme cold, heavy use, and limited parts supply chains -- make the Parts Advisor's accuracy and proactive communication more operationally critical here than at most lower-48 stores. The work carries real weight
• Mercedes-Benz's technically sophisticated platform means genuine parts expertise develops quickly -- OEM catalog navigation, supersession awareness, and European parts familiarity are skills that build value in any automotive environment
• Anchorage is a close-knit community where the service team and the guests who depend on them are your neighbors -- the Parts Advisor who keeps the shop stocked and moving earns the respect of the people who depend on that every day
• Swickard is one of the fastest-growing dealer groups in the country -- ranked Top 5 in North America for reputation in the automotive industry
• Our HEART values -- Honor, Engage, Anticipate, Respond, Thank -- apply to how we support our internal team just as much as our guests
If you have the automotive background, the computer proficiency, and the communication discipline to keep a well-run Anchorage Mercedes-Benz parts department moving -- apply.
