Position Overview:
The Senior Security Officer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety and security of personnel, property, and facilities within a designated area. This role includes enforcing established security policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a secure environment. In addition to performing routine security duties, the Senior Security Officer will manage, supervise, and provide oversight to other security personnel. This includes providing leadership, training, and ensuring all staff comply with security standards. The Senior Security Officer will work under the supervision of the assigned account manager while maintaining direct involvement in security operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to meet the minimum requirements of the position, but are not limited to:
Security Operations and Protection:
Protect the client’s property, personnel, and assets by maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times.
Ensure the consistent enforcement of established security policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Monitor and manage security activities to minimize risks and prevent incidents.
Incident and Emergency Response:
Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and critical situations, maintaining a calm, solution-focused approach.
Provide immediate assistance and coordinate with emergency services when needed.
Document and report incidents thoroughly, including witness statements and evidence gathering.
Patrol and Surveillance:
Conduct routine and random patrols of the facility, including the surrounding perimeter, to detect and prevent unauthorized activity or security breaches.
Inspect security equipment and systems (CCTV, alarm systems, etc.) to ensure they are operational.
Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately complete and submit all required documentation, including Daily Activity Reports, incident reports, logbook entries, and any other job-related records.
Maintain detailed records of events, incidents, and safety hazards, and ensure proper documentation is provided to supervisory personnel.
Access Control and Monitoring:
Monitor access control points and ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed entry into restricted areas.
Log all visitors, vendors, contractors, and deliveries in accordance with established protocols, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and up to date.
Safety and Security Enforcement:
Adhere to site-specific post orders and performance guidelines at all times.
Identify and report any safety hazards, security breaches, or unusual incidents immediately through both written and verbal communication to supervisory personnel.
Assist in the implementation of safety protocols and contribute to creating a secure working environment.
Oversight and Supervision of Security Staff:
Provide direct supervision and oversight of junior security officers and staff on-site.
Ensure all security personnel are fully trained on safety protocols, security procedures, and site-specific policies.
Conduct performance reviews of security personnel, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement where necessary.
Ensure that staff adheres to all company policies and procedures, addressing any deviations or issues promptly.
Foster a positive and effective working environment for the security team, including resolving conflicts and facilitating team cohesion.
Leadership and Team Collaboration:
Lead by example, maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity, and responsibility.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and departments to ensure that security measures are properly integrated into daily operations.
Assist with scheduling, shift management, and maintaining optimal staffing levels to ensure 24/7 security coverage.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure that all security operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Assist in conducting risk assessments and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
Act as a liaison between management and security personnel, ensuring that policies and procedures are properly communicated and understood.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5-years of experience in security operations
Proven experience in overseeing and managing security teams, conducting staff training, and handling personnel issues.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
In-depth knowledge of security operations, surveillance systems, and emergency response protocols.
Proficient in using security technology such as CCTV, access control systems, and alarm monitoring.
