Load Planner - Experience Booking Over the Road Loads

Sweet Express, LLC a local growing transportation company based in Kentwood, MI is looking to hire full time Load Planners with current experience booking loads for over-the-road trucking to work onsite at our Breton Road, Grand Rapids, MI terminal. The schedule for this position is generally 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

As a member of our Sweet Express team, you will:

• Book freight and complete all planning for the drivers assigned in the fleet.
• Planning and tendering of loads based on routing and financial parameters.
• Build and maintain carrier relationships to support the business.
• Demonstrate proficiency in working within portions of the transportation system that involve rate maintenance, optimization, routing guides, facility/carrier profiles and settlements.
• Maintain contract information for brokers.
• Work closely with our Dispatch and Customer Service team daily to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Enter load information in real time for transparency and cooperation with other members of the Transportation Department.
• Review current and forecasted truck availability.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of freight order to include billing, comments, pick-ups, directions, delivery directions, and special instructions for dispatch personnel.
• Participate in safety functions.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by manager.

An ideal applicant would:

• Preferably 2 years in the transportation industry.
• Have previous experience with TMS software preferably McLeod.
• Feel comfortable learning and using new programs.
• Have basic knowledge of FMCSA and HOS.
• Have previous knowledge of booking broker freight.

Physical Requirements:

· frequently required to sit and talk or hear

· use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls

· occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch,

· occasionally reach with hands and arms, walk; lift push or pull objects up to 20 pound.

· Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

· Infrequent lifting up to 25 pounds.
