Personal Injury Litigation Associate Attorney

Position Summary
Manage a caseload of personal injury litigation matters from complaint through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and settlement or trial preparation. The Litigation Associate Attorney is responsible for advancing cases efficiently while maintaining high standards of advocacy and client service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of personal injury litigation matters from filing through settlement or trial.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
• Conduct and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Develop case strategy in collaboration with supervising attorneys.
• Negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel to resolve claims.
• Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
• Maintain accurate and complete case records in the firm’s case management system.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and expectations.
• Stay current on developments in Massachusetts personal injury and civil procedure law.
• Deliver excellent client service through clear, responsive, and professional communication.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Massachusetts.
• 2–5 years of experience in personal injury litigation or civil litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation tasks and deadlines.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong litigation, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active cases.
• Analytical thinking and sound judgment in evaluating cases and legal strategy.
• Professional demeanor when interacting with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel.

Preferred Qualifications (optional)
• Experience handling depositions, motion practice, and mediations independently.
• Trial preparation experience.
• Prior plaintiff-side personal injury experience.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts Superior Court and District Court procedures.
• Experience with case management and legal research platforms.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
• Hybrid, full-time role in a busy legal office environment.
• Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and review case files as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary range: $85,000 – $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
