Summary of Responsibilities
The Lead Carpenter is responsible for overseeing residential remodeling and construction projects from start to finish. This includes leading field execution, coordinating labor and subcontractors, ensuring quality control, and actively contributing hands-on carpentry work.
This role also includes training and mentoring crew members, maintaining job site safety standards, and ensuring projects are completed according to plan, budget, and schedule.
Essential Functions
- Lead residential remodeling projects from start to finish
- Coordinate subcontractors, trades, and internal crew
- Plan daily work, delegate tasks, and support jobsite execution
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Perform demolition, rough, and finish carpentry work as needed.
- Install framing, stairs, windows, doors, cabinetry, drywall, and trim
- Ensure high-quality craftsmanship and consistent jobsite standards
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites at all times
- Support and train carpenters and laborers in the field
- Communicate updates, issues, and changes to the Field Project Manager
- Help manage timelines, materials, and workflow efficiency
- Uphold all company safety policies and procedures
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- 3–5 years of carpentry experience (lead experience preferred)
- Residential remodeling/construction experience required
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong rough and finish carpentry skills
- Experience leading or mentoring crew members on job sites preferred
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing and jobsite workflow
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer/email proficiency
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
- NARI Certification highly preferred
Wage & Compensation
We offer a competitive hourly range of $32-$38/hr, depending on experience, leadership ability, and certification progress.
Total compensation package averages approximately $75,000–$90,000 annually when factoring base pay and benefits.
