Position Description:

MISSION

The mission of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, a non-profit arts organization, is to serve as San Antonios cultural arts center, driving meaningful change in the community through the arts by providing world class entertainment in state-of-the-art facilities, supporting the work of local performing arts organizations, and ensuring inclusive and accessible arts education and outreach programs to San Antonios diverse population.
To fulfill its mission, The Tobin Center established Tobin Entertainment LLC to generate additional financial support for Tobin Center programs and ensure quality arts entertainment is available to the public in performing arts centers and other venues throughout the United States.

DESCRIPTION
Situated along the banks of the San Antonio River in the heart of the city, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts transformed arts in San Antonio. Its stunning architecture, creative interior design and lighting, exceptional acoustics, and blockbuster talent from around the world attracts widely diverse audiences from San Antonio and the region

The remarkable flexibility of the 1,750 seat H-E-B Performance Hall, with its distinctive flat-floor capability, opens the door for performances and events of almost any sort. The acoustics can be tuned to fit the performance and the physical set-up of the performance hall; and the sound insulation throughout The Tobin Center enables simultaneous use of the Performance Hall, the Studio Theater, and the River Walk Plaza. Audiences can see and hear performers and performances of every kind at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.

The Tobin Center includes three venues:
The H-E-B Performance Hall is a 1,750-seat performance space with excellent sound capabilities, adjustable for both acoustic and amplified musical presentations. The main floor converts from traditional theater seating to a flat-floor concept capable of seating more than 600 for banquet or cabaret style events or up to 1,050 for a general admission standing-room event.
The Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater is a 300-seat studio theater with numerous flexible-seating options and arrangements.
The Will Naylor Smith River Walk Plaza is an exterior venue along San Antonios River Walk that is ideal for films, concerts, and events. The plaza can accommodate seating for 600 people and includes a state-of-the-art 32-foot video wall.

TOBIN ENTERTAINMENT LLC
Tobin Entertainment LLC., the off-site tour and promotion division of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, was created to generate additional financial support to drive meaningful change in San Antonio through Resident Companies, Generation Next, and diverse community outreach.

Tobin Entertainment partners with performing arts centers and other venues all over the United States to bring quality entertainment to the public. Tobin Entertainment LLC currently operates in 70 cities in 29 states nationally.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
The Generation NEXT Education Initiative, the educational branch of The Tobin Center provides access to the arts and arts education for the community. We remove barriers to arts participation by providing a diverse range of free cultural, educational, and artistic experiences to more than 30,000 annually. We are active in the following areas: Sensory Friendly performances, artist interactions, educational extensions to existing programming, school time performances, supplying Arts teachers for SAISD, sending arts performances into schools, building tours, free community programs, and teacher professional development across Bexar County. Our arts education program is a major initiative of the Tobin Center with a focus on strengthening arts opportunities for youth and the underserved in our community. Specifically, GenNEXT is a leader in Arts Integration, providing professional development to teachers in how to access the power of the Arts to teach curriculum. Through our partnership with the Kennedy Center and our Affiliation with Wolf Trap, we bring only the highest quality of Arts Integration training for San Antonio teachers.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Director of Education, the Education Service Coordinator will be responsible for executing and curating the logistics of arts education programs as part of the Generation NEXT Education Initiative, specifically the departmental initiatives that are outwardly directed from the Education department. Strong candidates will be organized, innovative, and solutions-oriented. This position will spearhead the Early Arts program, school tours of The Tobin Center, the Technical Theatre experience (a specialized tour), and both track and document CPE credit for teachers. This position offers the opportunity to gain a unique blend of education and management experience as well as an insiders perspective into the inner workings of a world-class performing arts venue.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate the Early Arts program, including recruiting, training, and coordination with local artists to fulfill the programs, schedule coordination with participating schools, invoicing, coordinating payment to the artists, and including site visits when needed to accompany and / or observe the artists in action.
Plan and coordinate with the Front of House department to recruit and train Volunteers to support GenNEXT events, including Companions for Early Arts.
Plan and coordinate school tours of The Tobin Center with the Front of House department, including the development and expansion of the Technical Theatre Experience event.
Develop and maintain relationships with the artistic and educational communities in San Antonio, building trust and security with GenerationNEXT, including excellent customer service, safety, and high quality of work.
Administrate the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit program for The Tobin Center, including maintaining the CPE provider compliance with the Texas Education Agency and distributing letters of completion to participants.
Coordinate submission of departmental Marketing requests, including email list maintenance and communication of design needs for web page, email creation, and graphic design.
Support ongoing Arts Integration efforts on local campuses by overseeing workshops for local school districts and/or The Tobin Center and observing on-site coaching and demonstration sessions.
Maintenance of departmental Attendance records and other program statistics for use in grant writing, fundraising, initiative development, and program growth. This includes work with the Development and Front of House departments for the sharing of relevant data.
Support the Director of Education and the Education Manager during the planning, coordination of, and execution of education events. This includes but is not limited to event orders, social media, calendar updates, and newsletter compilation.
Assist education program participants with their needs during Generation NEXT events, including field trips, artist talkbacks, master classes, community connection opportunities, workshops, and professional development for teachers.
Be knowledgeable of the policies, procedures, and events at The Tobin Center.
Maintain a polished and professional presence, both in appearance and demeanor.
Be available to work a flexible schedule that may include a small number of weekends, evenings, or holidays. Any adjustments to the schedule will be coordinated in advance.
As needed, attend Tobin Center production meetings, held weekly at 2:00 pm on Wednesdays.
Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and two or more years of related work experience.
Classroom experience in public education, a knowledge of performing arts, and a familiarity with non-profit organizations are strongly preferred.
Customer service experience desired (guest services, volunteer services, or event management).
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to meet deadlines on a consistent schedule.
Proficient with using technology, including web-based applications (ex: Word, Excel, and Google Docs).
Capable of making decisions and following through; is a strategic thinker and problem solver.
Possess high standards of integrity, credibility, and reliability.
Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances on behalf of The Tobin Center.
Attention to detail.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Background check and drug screening.
Physical requirements: ability to navigate steps and stairs.
