Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Machinist role based in Knox, PA. The Machinist will set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools to produce and modify metal components for fabrication and diesel engine-related projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, measuring and inspecting parts to ensure accuracy, and adjusting machine settings to meet specifications. The role also involves performing basic equipment maintenance, collaborating with welders and fabricators to coordinate work, and following all safety procedures and quality standards. The Machinist is expected to maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to continuous improvement of machining processes.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions, and apply strong mechanical aptitude.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders) in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Proficiency with measurement tools (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges) and basic quality inspection practices to verify tolerances and dimensions.
- Knowledge of machining materials, cutting tools, and safe operating practices in industrial settings.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues and make precise adjustments.
- Ability to lift moderate weights, stand for extended periods, and follow all safety and PPE requirements.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with welders, fabricators, and supervisors in a team environment.
- Prior experience in locomotive, mining, energy, or heavy industrial manufacturing is beneficial; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining or related field is preferred
