The Role
We're hiring a part-time Full-Charge Bookkeeper to independently manage day-to-day financial operations for our U.S. entity. You'll own the full accounting cycle — not just reconciliations, but journal entries, month-end close, and financial statement prep — while coordinating with leadership and our outside CPA/tax firm as needed.
What You'll Do
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date books in Xero, including monthly bank/credit card reconciliations
- Post and maintain journal entries and general ledger activity
- Support month-end close
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoicing and payment tracking
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for leadership
- Review and manage employee expense reimbursements via Expensify
- Track and categorize company spend (vendor costs, operational spend, R&D-related expenditures)
- Coordinate with our outside CPA/tax firm on annual tax preparation
- Maintain clean documentation supporting government contracting compliance (SAM.gov, FAR-related recordkeeping) as needed
- Flag discrepancies, cash flow concerns, or compliance risks proactively
What You Bring
- 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally with a startup or small business
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent experience welcome)
- Proficiency with Xero, or strong experience with a comparable cloud accounting platform
- Solid grasp of U.S. GAAP basics (accrual accounting, matching principle, revenue recognition)
- Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills
- Comfortable working independently in a high-autonomy, remote/hybrid environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
Nice to Have
- Experience with venture-backed startups (Series A or earlier)
- Familiarity with government contracting financial compliance (SAM.gov, FAR, DCAA-type recordkeeping)
- Experience with international/cross-border entity structures
Logistics
- Part-time, 15–20 hrs/week, with flexibility around monthly close
- Hybrid/remote, based in or near Winter Haven, FL
- Reports to Head of Operations
